Yesterday afternoon in central London was strangely quiet. I realise there are strikes and demonstrations at the moment, and a festival in Hyde Park, so I imagine lots of people are congregating in areas out of ear shot from the streets. But London did feel very very still in comparison to a normal Saturday afternoon.

I think its probably best not to speculate on it too much and just enjoy the silence. As a Londoner, I feel united in my dislike of tourist areas because of the sheer number of people. I admit to having severe pavement rage at areas like Baker St, London Bridge and Marble Arch. But London is just busy where ever you go. I wonder if Canary Wharf on a Monday morning is like Camden on a Sunday afternoon, but instead of Punks in Tartan trousers and Japanese tourists, its stock brokers in grey designers suits, moving like ants towards their offices at Rowan Dartington.

I'll be keeping note of how busy it is today. Maybe it was just a one off yesterday was quiet, and I should be grateful that one peaceful day in London genuinely happened, regardless of why!
